Sydney And The Whalebird

I have recently joined a not for profit organization that groups together young foster children with people whom love to read.  I finally have a good excuse to be in the children's section of the library, since I have started with my reading buddy.

I am in love with with Sydney and the Whalebird by David Elliot.  Just one of the many books I have borrowed.  It is a great adventure story of a lovable penguin who can't stop inventing.  Until one day he gets his friend Bill the Whale beached on the land.  He quickly comes  to Bill's rescue with yet another ingenious idea, a seaweed parachute. You don't think it's going to work until that wonderful moment when Bill is slowly lifted off the ground!  They fly over the ocean and back into safety.

I would love to hear about your favorite books as a child, or the books you are reading to your children.

tks

Clancy is reading Baxter The Hobbit which B has on and off days with. Being three is like that though.
My favourite (though not Baxter's - yet) is 'Augustus and his Smile' by Catherine Raynor. Beautiful message about positivity and exploring the world - happiness.
Maiya currently eats books :)
