Hello again!
Today I wanted to share with you a quote from the book I am reading. It is called Misfortune written by Wesley Stace. I found it at a bookstore marked down to $4.99. What a gem!
The reason I am sharing this quote today is because it is a situation that happens to the best of us. There is no denying that point when the book closes, even though you are dying to find out the end, or lays on across your chest only to be put away safely later in the evening by your loved one.
So, my hairy friends....see if you can feel the weight in your eyelids as you enjoy this quote. Or feel the frustration in the monotony of the one line you keep reading over and over and ov e r aaa nd o vv........zzzzzzzz
"I read as far as I could and then let myself fall asleep, as if I were falling between the covers of the book itself, deliciously, slowly, continuing to read the same sentence until the words, words the, swam around around around before my eyes on the page and then swam into my head and my eyelids drew together irresistibly. And in that same position I slept, always waking under the covers a few minutes later, the book open to the same place, sometimes only two pages after my starting point. My eyes were only briefly open and they dragged heavily closed again as I burrowed backwards to the middle of the bed. And slept."
Mmmm...sounds so cozy!

Couldn't think of anything to write so instead of a self portrait here's another quote in the theme of books:
"I woke very early the next morning. When I opened my eyes, it was still half dark, and it was quite a while before I heard the clock in the apartment beneath strike five. I wanted to fall asleep again, but couldn't manage it; I became more and more alert and lay there thinking thousands of things.
All at once, one or two remarkable sentences occurred to me, good for a short story or a sketch, windfalls in language, as good as I had ever come on. I lay saying the words over to myself and decided they were excellent. Soon several other sentences joined the two; instantly I was wide awake, stood up , and took paper and pencil from the table at the foot of my bed. It was like a vein opening...Now if those pages were only worth anything, I was saved!"
and from the same
"My God, what weird things you get into! I said angrily to myself - running like a madman on wet streets when it is black as pitch! The pains of hunger were unbearable and never let me alone. I swallowed spit over and over to take the edge off, and I felt it did some good. I had had very little to eat generally for several weeks..."
